New Brunswick: WHMIS 2015 Comes Into Full Effect on April 1st March 23 2016
In February of last year, Health Canada announced that the province of New Brunswick would be gradually transitioning to newly amended versions of the Hazardous Products Act and the Hazardous Products Regulations; collectively known as WHMIS 2015. These amendments were made to reflect the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemical (GHS); the new international standard for the classification of chemical hazards.
On April 1st, 2016, New Brunswick will be officially amending the Occupational Health and Safety Act in order to reflect WHMIS 2015. Despite this, the transition period will continue, with suppliers and employers being able to comply with either the 1988 or 2015 WHMIS requirements until 2017. The goal is to have completed nationwide adoption of the 2015 standard by December of 2018.

Nouveau-Brunswick : le SIMDUT 2015 entre intégralement en vigueur le 1er avril
En février de l'an dernier, Santé Canada annonçait que la province du Nouveau-Brunswick introduirait progressivement les nouvelles versions amendées de la Loi sur les produits dangereux et du Règlement sur les produits dangereux ; collectivement appelées SIMDUT 2015. Ces modifications ont été apportées afin de refléter le Système général harmonisé sur la classification et l'étiquetage des produits chimiques (SGH), la nouvelle norme internationale pour la classification des dangers des substances chimiques.
Le 1er avril 2016, le Nouveau-Brunswick amendera officiellement la Loi sur la santé et la sécurité au travail afin de tenir compte du SIMDUT 2015. La période de transition se poursuivra par la suite, les fournisseurs et les employeurs ayant jusqu’en 2017 pour se conformer aux exigences du SIMDUT 1988 ou 2015. L’objectif est que la norme de 2015 soit adoptée dans tout le pays d’ici décembre de 2018.

WorkSafe New Brunswick, CCOHS launch Guide to OHS Legislation May 20 2015
WorkSafeNB and the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) have launched an online guide to New Brunswick’s OHS legislation. There are 30 different OHS topics, with plans to add more each year. The topics include links to different resources, including interpretations, summaries, legislation, hazard alerts and safety talks.
All the content is written in an easy-to-read format to help workers and employers better understand what is required by legislation, and what can be done to meet and exceed those requirements.
Topics on the website are accessible through computer, tablet and smartphone, making the essential information related to safe work widely accessible. The Guide can be found in the Laws section of our website, or it can be accessed at http://ohsguide.worksafenb.ca/ in both French and English.
The CCOHS has plans to collaborate with other Canadian jurisdictions to create and offer similar portals.
Travail Sécuritaire Nouveau-Brunswick, le CCHST lance un guide sur la législation SST
Travail Sécuritaire NB et le Centre canadien d'hygiène et de sécurité au travail (CCHST) ont lancé un guide en ligne sur la législation SST du Nouveau-Brunswick. Il y a 30 sujets différents de SST, et ils prévoient en ajouter à chaque année. Les sujets comprennent des liens vers différentes ressources, y compris des interprétations, des résumés, de la législation, des alertes de risques et des discussions sur la sécurité.
Tout le contenu est écrit dans un format facile à lire pour aider les travailleurs et les employeurs à mieux comprendre ce qu’exige la législation, et ce qui peut être fait pour satisfaire et excéder ces exigences.
Les sujets sur le site Web sont accessibles par ordinateur, tablette et téléphone intelligent; les informations essentielles concernant le travail sécuritaire sont donc largement accessibles. On peut consulter le Guide à http://ohsguide.worksafenb.ca/ en français et en anglais.
Le CCHST prévoit collaborer avec d'autres provinces et territoires canadiens afin de créer et d’offrir des portails similaires.
